GET IN SHAPE ADVICE SUMMITS WRAP

On behalf of the co-hosts, a huge thank you to our speakers, marketplace stallholders and everyone that joined us at the Advice Summits. It was amazing to see so many of the advice community coming together and looking forward to the future of financial advice in New Zealand.

The financial advice community made up three-quarters of the 1250 Delegates, across Wellington, Auckland, Christchurch and Dunedin. Attendees rated both the event and the session speakers at over 4 out of 5 stars.

The Masterclass - 'Unlocking the Code' - was also a huge success with over 1000 delegates attending the optional session across the four venues.

Watch the summit wrap video below to find out more, and if you missed the summit or want to refresh yourselves of the content, you can catch-up through the videos and presentations linked below.

Find out more about the changes at navigatingregulation.co.nz, and don't forget, the deadline for transitional licencing for the new financial advice regime is 29 June 2020.

Following the event, the FMA and Companies Office have provided some FAQ to support advisers, as well as useful links and resources.

OPTIONAL
Unlocking the Code Masterclass – adding value for your clients and building trust in you, their adviser
This masterclass provides you with a lens to view your obligations as a financial adviser and take a practical approach to embed changes in advice processes – that has better client outcomes and foster their relationship with you - their trusted adviser.

The Duties under the FMC Act and obligations in the Code of Professional Conduct provides all advisers and advice firms an exciting opportunity to review and revamp their business and advice practices in the new licensed regime.

The challenge is to turn a new compliance requirement into an effective business-transformation process – one that adds value to your clients and builds trust in you, their adviser.

In a ‘principles-based’ environment some of the pressing questions are;
  • How do you actually know your client understands your recommendations?
  • Do your client-files reflect any of the diversity and vulnerabilities of your client base?
  • If a colleague were to review your files is there clear evidence your advice is suitable for your client?
  • Is it totally apparent you’ve placed your client’s needs and interests first - effectively communicating and mitigating any conflicts of interests?
Sign up for this masterclass and ensure you understand how to apply the new legislative duties to your business practices.
